007/365: READ in the New Year

Today we celebrated New Years Eve at the library!! The program, Read in the New Year, was hosted by Jennifer, Wendy, and yours truly. We had the kids decorate glitter top hats, gave them noise makers, had a "hat parade" around the library, counted down to the New Year (aka 1 pm), and each took turns reading the kids a story.

I decided to read the group my most favorite picture book, Alice the Fairy by David Shannon. And look at that! I just happened to have the appropriate costume (already at my desk) to go with my book!

After the program was done, I had a little boy come running up to me to tell me he "really liked my wings"! I also had a little girl who kept staring at me with total awe. She must have known that I really am a fairy princess...

006/365: The Challenge

Take a deep breath and don't panic! It's just 6 pounds! 6 POUNDS?!? UGH!!!!!

That's right. I gained 6 lbs in one month!!! How did this happen?? I know. I know. It's the holiday season... but that's no excuse. I'm lucky that I'm tall because it's not quite as obvious when I gain weight, but this time I can feel it and it feels awful!!

My roommate, Deb, and I are very competitive people. I went crying to her about my weight gain and she told me it was okay. I'm allowed to gain some weight during the holidays... but now I have to have it off by my birthday! My birthday is the 27th of January. That's 6 pounds in 29 days. Totally doable. Right?

I don't really believe in "weight loss" resolutions so I decided to start my weight loss "challenge" today (instead of waiting to January 1st). I'm a Weight Watchers girl, so I very dutifully calculated my Points all day... and then Dave and I went to Fridays. I was soooooo good though! I got the Dragon Chicken (only 500 calories and 10 grams of fat). It was delicious! It wasn't enough though. Look at my poor plate! I licked it so clean that it doesn't even need to be washed. But it's all I ate and I didn't even cheat and have dessert (although I wanted it!)!! Go me!

005/365: TranquiliTEA

Dave and I had a sleepover last night! Fun times! And today we were both off and super lazzzzyyyyyyyyyy! (My cold is still hanging on!)

We ate cupcakes, watched 2 1/2 episodes of Legend of the Seeker (I love the Terry Goodkind books), made some tea...

Check out this tea maker!!! How cool is this thing?? I know it doesn't always take a lot to impress me, but come on! This tea maker is hardcore! I kind of want one for my house!

004/365: Christmas Football Miracle

Do you know what's sweet? Beating the Cowboys! No wait. I'm sorry! DECIMATING the Cowboys!!!

Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!123456!!!

We bleed green in my house!!! I love football and I love my Eagles! We needed to win this game against the Cowboys to make the playoffs! As my roommate Deb said, "Today we control our destiny"! Yeah we do and yeah we did!!

I took this picture (of Dave's tv) right after Romo threw the ball to Barber (#24), who fumbled it, and Joselio Hanson picked the ball up to run it back for 97 yard touchdown!

I give this play a big ol' THUMBS UP!

See you all in Minnesota next Sunday...

E-A-G-L-E-S...EAGLES!

003/365: Lazy Saturdays

You know what's fun? Being sick... for five days straight... and not feeling one bit better. I have work tonight (I have a part time job in a clothing store at a local mall) and I'm dreading it, but I really hate calling out sick. So I'm going to suck it up and deal. It's only 4 1/2 hours of work and then I can come back home to my couch.

Since I knew there was no way I would call out tonight, I decided to have a super lazy day. I'm still in my PJs, relaxing on my recliner, eating Spaghetti Os, and watching The Abyss (a classic!). You can see my shih tzu, Stitches, also relaxing in her brand new puppy bed! Life is pretty sweet.

Although I have to actually "get up" and shower in 15 minutes. Booooo...

002/365: Swimming in Shark Infested Waters

Meet Dave the Shark (of "Spaghetti Os Christmas Basket" fame)!

I'm working at the library til 9 tonight and it is DEAD! I have a cold and I am bored. To kill time I have decided to play with my two new toys: 1. My new Canon Powershot (thank you Santa!) and 2. Dave the Shark (thank you Dave the boyfriend)!

Dave might look harmless (considering he's plastic)... but trust me... he smells FEAR!!

001/365: Merry Christmas -Dave

There are three things I crave when I'm sick: apple juice, push pops, and Spaghetti Os.

I used to be engaged. I was with my ex-fiance for 3 1/2 years before I called it off. During those 3 1/2 years, he never bought me any of the aforementioned necessities when I was sick. There was this one time, 5 months before I left, that I was coming down with a cold. I had aches and chills. I felt like death. He told me that he would run to the store and buy me medicine and Spaghetti Os. The whole time he was gone I thought about the Spaghetti Os... It's my comfort food! When he returned I rummaged through the bag of meds and pulled out (to my horror!) a can of Chef Boyardee!

"It's the same thing," he said to me.

Seriously?!?

Fast forward a year and a half...

I've known my boyfriend, Dave, for a couple of years now. We used to work together and now we've been dating for 2 months. I'm ridiculously smitten. I've spent the last month trying to put together the perfect Christmas present... and although he might not agree... I think his present totally blows mine away! I've been sick two times in the past three weeks. I'm miserable. Tonight he gave me my Christmas present... a basket filled with cans of Spaghetti Os!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think this might just be the most perfect present I've ever received. He called it "thoughtful".... I'm calling it "delicious"!

Oh. And the plastic shark? Yeahhhh. I'm scared of fish. True story. Somebody thought he was being funny...

Project 365

I saw a poster the other day that read:

BLOGGING
Never before have so many people with so little to say said so much to so few.

Fantabulous! Add me to that "so many people" category! And I hate to get all cliche in my first post... but I created this blog for me... and I'm not expecting a multitude of followers. That being said, I know my friends will be on here, reading away. (I guess they would be the "so few"?) So just in case you are not one of my 11 friends who care and you happened over here by mistake... Hi! I'm Christen! I'm a 26 year old librarian, residing in Jersey, starting another blog. This not your typical blog though. This is a photoblog, dedicated to my Project 365!

The people who know me best like to say that I'm a "good time"! I'm not your typical librarian... or person, for that matter! I love life... and all things pink! I am a terrible photographer, but I figure I'll be getting lots of practice over the next year. I love to read and enjoy hanging from a pole. I've flown the trapeze and am an Emerging Leader in my field. I have a dog named Stitches, a group of girlfriends affectionately known as the EE, two parents that I call "my roommates", and a boyfriend named Dave.

Welcome to my world...
